A Cold Day

In this morning, after I woke up, I ate rice and miso-soup. And I went to Mother's grandma's house. Her house isn't far away from my house. She has stayed in a hospital because of her operation and nobody there. I watered all her trees and flowers and I prayed in front of my grandpa's Butudan. He passed away in this January.

Do you know what Butudan is? Butudan is a Buddhist praying box. We generally regard it because most Japanese think that spirits of our ancestors are staying there. It's a Japanese way to worship ancestors.

Strictly, Buddhism doesn't have the ideas of worshipping ancestors. Or rather, originally, Buddhists must throw away their relationship with families. But in Japan, since ancient times, we have worshipped our ancestors naturally. It caused that historically Japanese Buddhism has been under the influence of Japanese Animism, ideas of Shinto. And today we pray for their peace to Butudan at home without thinking.

In the evening, I took a train and went to the city library. When I went out from the entrance of my house, it had already rained.

I saw him again there. This was twice to see him. He was working there as a temporary library worker. He had been a my classmate when I had been a junior high school student. He had showed us something strange. Then I had guessed he had problems about his brain.

But in the end I didn't know what happend in his head. I just remembered he was very bullied and soon bullies didn't touch him. Now I think he has had some problems with his family. Maybe the most important problem will be focused on his relationship with his mother.

Anyway, I borrowed 5 books, 2 rakugo CDs and 1 movie casette and went back home. Today's supper was not bad. Meatcubes rolled with cabbage were very tasty.
